Toys: Bringing toys to school is discouraged
because they distract the children from learning. If a toy is accidentally lost
or broken, feelings will be hurt. It is also against the William Holliday rules for students to bring toys to school. If toys come to school by accident, I usually ask the students to make sure they stay in their backpacks. If they come to school multiple times, I may confiscate them and return them to a parent who comes to pick them. Sometimes items that are not necessarily meant to be toys become toys and we will talk about that (example: bracelets, toy-like attachments to backpacks, etc.)
